VIRTUS is a program created by the National Catholic Risk Retention Group in the United States with a "Protecting God's Children" component that combats sexual abuse of children in the Church. It is currently in use in over 80 dioceses in the US.  Effective July 2019, all employees and those volunteers of the Diocese who have regular contact with minors must be re-trained every 3 years. The first re-training must occur in a live, facilitator-led training, in which a portion of the presentation will be dedicated to reporting of child abuse. Every other training within each 3-year time frame can be completed on-line in a program entitled, Keeping the Promise Alive Refresher Program.
