Christian Service Commission

The Christian Service Commission exists to bring to life the Christian principals of outreach and service, so frequently mentioned by Jesus in the Gospels. As we serve others, we grow in holiness and are enriched in Faith as members of the Body of Christ. This Commission reflects our Catholic belief in the dignity of each person from conception to natural death. The Christian Service Commission creates opportunities and organizes details so that our parishioners can make a difference through outreach and generosity. There are two focuses of Christian Service: Pastoral Care and Outreach Ministry.

Christian Service Commission Member

Become a part of the Christian Service Commission that works with the Pastor and members of the parish staff along with the other Commission members to give direction to the parish in regards to pastoral and outreach ministries. Help create long and short-term goals for the parish. Time commitment is 1.5 hour meetings once monthly; other meetings as needed.

Food of Faith

Become involved with preparing and serving a hot meal to the poor of the community at a local church (Group effort). (1- 4 hrs. of time) Currently our parish participates two times a year.

Hospitality Weekend Host

The first full weekend of each month, hospitality is provided after all Masses as a time for parishioners to socialize and also to meet new members. Coffee, punch and cookies/doughnuts are served. Hospitality also is provided for special events of the parish. Assist with the set up and serving on scheduled weekend. (1-3hrs of time 4/5 times a year).

Juvenile Home Birthday Ministry

Volunteers provide 2 birthday cakes and a pail of ice cream each month and drop them off at the Juvenile home on Hampton Road. Time commitment is about 1 hour each month on a rotating basis.

Simple Blessings Quilters

Quilters gather monthly at the Parish Hall to share their talents and create fantastic quilts. Group does not meet in the summer months. Time commitment approximate 2 hours per month.

Pastoral Care Ministries

Homebound and Sick Parishioner Communion Minister

Visit and take communion to one of our homebound or sick parishioners on a regular basis. (1 hr. of time once or twice a month) Training provided.

Hospital Communion Minister

Take communion to parishioners in the hospital on Sunday mornings. (1 hr. of time once every two months) Training provided.

Bay Medical Care Facility Communion Minister

Be a part of a team who takes communion to Catholic residents at the Care Facility on Hampton Rd. on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00am (1-1/2 hr. of time /4 times a year). Training provided.

Funeral Ministries

Funeral Altar Servers

Adult Altar Servers are needed to assist the priest during funeral liturgies. Training is provided. Names or those willing to serve will be places on a list, to be called on a rotating basis as needed.

Funeral Eucharistic Ministers

Often times, families provide their own Eucharistic Ministers.  When that does not happen, volunteers are needed to serve in this role at funeral liturgies. Time commitment is flexible; names are put on rotating list.

Funeral Sacristan

Assist in preparing church/altar for funerals. Time commitment varies.
